Tempered glass
Tempered glass is ordinary clear glass that is thermally treated by heating the glass in a special tempering furnace and then rapidly cooling it. As a result, tempered glass is 5 times stronger than normal glass of the same thickness and can withstand heat well. Due to its excellent heat tolerance (up to 275°C), it is well suited for saunas, stoves, ovens and fireplaces.
As a result of tempering, the glass is much safer, because sharp glass fragments are not produced when broken, but the glass breaks down into smaller, rounder pieces. Thanks to this, the risk of getting cuts is minimal.
The strength of the glass depends on the thickness of the glass, the processing of the edges and the presence of holes. Tempered glass is no stronger than ordinary glass at the edges of the glass and is especially weak at the corners of the glass!
Tempered glass is used in places where strong safety glass is needed, as well as in facades, windows, doors, furniture, as background glass in the kitchen, partitions, stair railings and shower corners.
NB! Possible treatments (cutting, edge grinding, openings, cutouts) must be done on the glass before tempering.
